I'm reading on another forum that some people are saying the speed limit signs that advice you to do 40KM/h around a bend are only advisory signs and dont really have any legal merit? Is this true?
Hardly anyone follows these anyway...... edit: whoops posted this in the wrong section of the forums ![]() Edited by unique - 16Jul2008 at 6:57pm |

Yellow advisory signs - yes just to give you an indication of speed.

Is that so? So you can do the actual speed limit around those corners perfectly legal?

As long as you're not sideways around the corner then YES.

hmm thats funny, because I think like years YEARS ago my mates dad copped a big fine because there was a turn that you had to take at 70KM/h and he was still following the speed limit of 100KM/h which was on a country road...
maybe he lied or he copped a fine for something else ![]() Still I slow down a bit around those corners, I still have a feeling you can cop a fine if you do not slow down for the yellow speed limit sign.. |

That's what I love about my Rexxy- others are slowing down around corners while I'm speeding up, LoL. Seriously- an AWD car normally always handles corners at their legal limit. I always take it easy into the corner but once I'm in there's no slowing down..... |

Hi All,
The majority of bends signposted on highways and freeways are "engineered" to double the signposted speed - built in redundancy! Ciao! |
