I was again caught in the CCT going west from Rushcutters Bay. The Variable Speed Sign at Rushcutters Bay was 60KPH. What a surprise the limit was reduced in the tunnel to 40KPH. So I was hit with a fine. I brought the matter to court. Because, 1, Two bends in the tunnel obscure the speed signs. 2, There is not enough clear vision of the 'D Sized Variable Speed Signs,' after they become visible, 3 There is no warning of a speed reduction like RTA use with other variable speed zones. I won my case, unrepresented. I took pictures and was able to show the problem in the tunnel to the magistrate. So just plead, 'Guilty with an explanation,' and you too can get off this tunnel fine which is a cashcow for the RTA.

I looked at the flip type electric motors but they were expensive and looked too obvious. The ones I have look like normal number plate frames and cover the plates remotely in 2 seconds.

They advertise them as a novelty item not intended for illegal use, but they are very well made and work at higher speeds. If you're interested they are at hidenumberplates.com

Hope this helps someone :)
The cabling and controller box upgrade works were done nearly 12 ths ago but had remained idle since then
2. There was a recent fatality involving a roadworker being runover by a vehicle at this site.
3. Ther hasn't been any (or at least none that I'm aware of) MVA's at this location for quite some time but a couple of other nearby intersections that I regard as being dangerous have had numerous collisions.
